Overview of Changes for 2025
New Accident Insurance Plan through MetLife
Beginning 1/1/2025, Catalina will offer a new voluntary benefit program. Accident insurance helps cover gaps of any extra, out-of-pocket expenses not covered by your group health insurance that you might face if you're injured in an accident. Employees can choose from two Accident plans, a High and a Low plan option, and may cover their eligible dependents. Rates range from $3.00 - $12.00/paycheck depending on the plan you select and the dependents that you cover.
New Identity and Cyber Protection Insurance through Aura/MetLife
Beginning 1/1/2025, Catalina will add another new voluntary benefit program. Identity and Cyber Protection insurance provides continuous monitoring and reimbursement to cover the cost of restoring your identity. Receive up to $5 million in reimbursement funds should you need restorative support. Rates as low as $4.59/paycheck or $7.36/paycheck to cover your family members.
New Medicare Education & Enrollment Support Service through Aptia
Beginning 1/1/2025, Catalina will have a Medicare Education and Enrollment Support service called SmartConnect available to all employees, family members, and friends 100% free of charge! SmartConnect is a concierge Medicare education and enrollment service that provides personalized support and guidance for anyone seeking a simple way to explore their Medicare options.
New Roth 401(k) Contribution Option Coming Soon!
Coming in 2025, Roth will be a new contribution option available for your 401(k). You contribute money to your account after income tax comes out of your paycheck (after-tax dollars). You don’t pay income tax on your contributions or earnings when you withdraw the money, as long as you are at least age 59 ½, and it’s been at least 5 years since you first contributed to the Roth account. This option may help you pay less income tax in retirement and may be better if you think your tax rate will be higher at that time.
Lower & Higher Deductible HSA Medical Plans
Effective 1/1/2025, the HDHP medical plans’ in-network deductibles must increase due to the IRS minimum deductible requirements.
Lower Deductible HSA (Standard) Medical Plan
Single = $1,650 in-network (+$50) / $3,200 out-of-network (no change)
Family = $3,300 in-network (+$100) / $6,400 out-of-network (no change)
Higher Deductible HSA (Premium Saver) Medical Plan
Single = $3,300 in-network (+$100) / $6,400 out-of-network (no change)
Family = $6,600 out-of-network (+$200) / $12,800 out-of-network (no change)
Health Savings Account (HSA)
There will be no change to Catalina’s HSA contribution strategy for 2025. Please review the details regarding the components of the match here.
Effective 1/1/25, the HSA contribution limits (set by the IRS) have increased. Below are the new annual contribution limits for PY2025, which are inclusive of both your own and Catalina’s contributions to your HSA:
Single (Employee Only)
$4,300* (+$150; was $4,150 in 2024)
Family (Employee + 1 or more)
$8,550* (+$250; was $8,300 in 2024)
* Employees Aged 55+ can contribute an extra $1,000 to the above limits (no change from 2024)
$0 Telemedicine Visits through Teladoc
The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) of 2023 extended the telehealth safe harbor for High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs), which allowed $0 cost for general medical telemedicine visits prior to meeting deductible responsibility. This extension is set to expire on 12/31/2024, if not extended further. We will likely not know if it gets extended until end of this year. This means that the cost for Teladoc visits for the Lower & Higher Deductible HSA medical plan participants will return to a set fee of $56 or less, until deductible is met, at which time it will resume to a $0 cost again. The Traditional PPO plan is not impacted by expiring safe harbor and will continue to cost $0 per general medical telehealth visit through Teladoc in 2025.
Supplemental Employee Life Insurance Increase during Open Enrollment w/o EOI
Employees currently enrolled in supplemental employee life insurance can increase their coverage by 1x their annual earnings, not to exceed a total coverage of the Guaranteed Issue limit with no health questions.
Dependent Eligibility Verification Process
Catalina conducts dependent eligibility verifications for newly added dependents. Following the close of Open Enrollment, you will be provided with further instructions on how to verify your newly added dependent, if applicable. Employees who have previously verified their dependent(s) will not need to repeat the process. Employees adding new dependents during Open Enrollment will be required to provide verifying documents, such as birth certificates, marriage licenses, etc., by a specified date. Please prepare by locating necessary documents in advance.
As a reminder, eligible dependents include: Spouse, D. P., natural or adopted children, stepchildren and any other children you support for whom you are the legal guardian or for whom you are required to provide coverage as a result of a QMCSO.
If any dependents are not eligible for Catalina’s plans, we encourage you to find coverage for them at www.healthcare.gov.
